Michael J. Gorumba did NOT
die FROM a fire, he only died AT a fire, allegedly from a heart attack
while he was handling a hose. And how did the fire start? No article that I have found says. At least one article calls the blaze "mysterious." It was at an auto-body shop, and it reportedly became big and intense due to the volative paint thinners. But how did the flames begin? Another article says Gorumba was found, "by a plainclothes policeman," slumped over the firetruck steering wheel, after stumbling out of the fire area where he was holding a hose. What was a cop doing looking in on the FDNY that day? Why did no firemen accompany and watch and try to help Gorumba as he stumbled away from the fire toward the firetruck?
